Crystal + Tim | Crestwood Country Club, Rehoboth, MA Wedding

Crystal + Tim's wedding might be the most entertaining wedding I've ever been to. These two are filled with energy and love for each and every person they meet and that's what makes them so special. Their wedding was seriously a blast! From the getting ready moments, to the reception where the maid of honor and best man made videos instead of speeches (which were super awesome by the way!) Crystal + Tim planned a night that was really unforgettable.

Thank you both for being such awesome clients and awesome friends :)

With love,
Ryan

MA Senior Portrait Photographer: Kelly

It's not often I get to photograph high school seniors anymore. That's weird for me to even say since my business started as only photographing high school seniors. But now-a-days I photograph about 10 seniors a year.

Kathy, Kelly's mom, contacted me a month ago about having her two daughters photographed. As soon as I met with these ladies I knew they'd be a blast to work with. Kelly is currently in high school but you wouldn't be able to tell right off the bat. Her maturity level shines right through and you could swear she's definitely over 19! Maybe that's why Kelly is her class president who goes above and beyond not only for her school but for her community as well and she's so humble about it. It speaks volumes when someone does so much and asks for nothing in return and that's definitely Kelly. We explored the cool alleyways and streets in downtown Providence and walked away with some pretty awesome photos. It was definitely a session to remember. I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

RI Maternity Photographer: Louie, Tanna & Liam

I first met Tanna & Louie a year ago where they contacted me to capture their 1 year anniversary. We had a blast at Lincoln State Woods on a beautiful March day.  A year later, Tanna contacted me again with some big news. I remember I got a text from her saying "RYAN. GUESS WHAT!" And at first, I thought maybe she wanted to get her second anniversary photographed, but her news was much more exciting than that. She had a baby boy on the way, and it was time to capture the next chapter of their story together.

Liam can't have better parents than these two. They are two of the most loving, kind, clients I know and Liam is blessed to call them Mommy & Daddy. With just two weeks to go, it'll be any day now that they welcome him to this world.

I am so blessed to be a photographer and capture moments like these on camera. Photos that Tanna, Louie and Liam will look back on when he's 20, and say "wow, look how big your belly was mom!" My job is seriously awesome.

Exploring Providence, RI: Mills Coffee

Last month, I had the pleasure to visit Mill's Coffee, a roasting company located right in Providence! I've always loved coffee, especially if it's locally brewed. But after going to Italy last year, I've become even more of a coffee snob. Even Starbucks tastes like water!

That's when I gave a call to my friend Susan, owner of Mill's Coffee. Susan and her family have been brewing coffee for decades. The company has been handed down generation after generation and still to this day is all family owned and operated. They have every single section of coffee you can think of: From Pumpkin Spice, Blueberry Coffee Cake (my favorite) to amazingly bold Nikawewa coffee. What's better than strong, local owned coffee? Nothing else.

Susan spent over 3 hours with me giving me a tour, allowing me to taste some coffee and educating me on the whole process. I had no idea that so much time, dedication and love goes into making a single cup of coffee. I want to thank Susan, and her team for allowing me to photograph them and allowing me to taste test a whole bunch of coffee.

Mill's Coffee - Buy a bag here!

Cheers!

Ashley & Patrick Part I - Providence, RI Engagement Session

Last month we had some crazy freezing temperatures. One day it was beautiful out, the next day is was below zero. Luckily, we all survived the brave weather and made it to March.

Ashley & Patrick, a 2016 couple of mine who are celebrating their big day this upcoming New Year's Eve had this amazing engagement session idea that they wanted to recreate. One part of the session would be shot in the summer and one in the winter. Patrick would lead Ashley to a spot to propose to her in the summer and then magically it would transform into winter. I loved the idea! After playing around with a few different ideas, we chose to photograph the winter part first. We had to be careful in choosing a date. We wanted snow to be on the ground, and we honestly hopped it would snow during the session but instead we endured below zero degree weather! It was super fun though. We had to be quick so we didn't freeze our tushes off and we had to somehow keep warm, especially when you're in a dress. Luckily, we all went to a local spot afterwards for some dinner.

I had a blast Ashley & Patrick, I can't wait for part two!

With love,
Ryan

Lindsay & Marco | Narragansett, RI Wedding

Now that the 2015 wedding season is officially over and I don't have too much editing to do, I like to go back through the thousand of images we took over the season and find awesome photos or even whole weddings that I didn't blog during the hectic busy months! Today, I stumbled across this gem: Lindsay & Marco's wedding.

I photographed Lindsay & Marco's wedding with the amazing Scott Zuehlke Photography. Scott and I know each other through Hallmark, and any time he needs me to second shoot for him, I'll readily jump at the opportunity. We had a blast with this one! I gotta tell ya - If you can afford having a live band at your wedding, it'll make all the difference. They really know how to get the crowd going and well, the photos can speak for themselfs. Enjoy!

Watch out, that guy might show up at your wedding! haha!

But first, lemme take a selfie.

Julianne & Douglas | Newport, RI Winter Wedding

a year ago, I got an phone call from Hawaii. Now usually, I would ignore the call thinking it's some telemarketer trying to sell me something but, I felt dangerous enough to pick up. To my surprise, it was Julianne, a RI native, now living in Hawaii with Douglas, her husband-to-be. She explained her day to me...A beautiful christmas & winter themed wedding in December in lovely Newport, RI. I was immediately excited. It's not common for me to photograph anybody in the winter, never mind a wedding! She quickly put me in touch with her awesome mom, Cathy and the rest was history.

You might be thinking to yourself: "Why would a couple who lives in Hawaii want a winter wedding in Newport, RI?" I asked myself that too...Until Cathy & Julianne told me the whole story. Back in March 2003, Julianne was having a drink downtown, when in walked Doug, all dressed up in his navy uniform. A few drinks later and well, the rest was history. It was only fitting that they brought their friends and family together where they first met and fell in love. We even stopped by the bar where it all happened!

I had a blast with these two. They were so laid back, easy going, and so kind! Thank you all who put together this beautiful day. It was the perfect way to end 2015.

A look into 2016

Every photographer writes a reflection on the past year. A blog post filled with their favorite stories, photos, and personal memories. I was thinking about doing the same but then thought to myself "why follow what everyone else is doing?" 2015 was definitely a great year for me. I photographed so many weddings, met so many great people, traveled to Italy and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better year.

However, I wanted to thank every single couple who's been apart of the journey this past year. Those who let me capture their story and share it with the world. And I wanted to thank each and every couple who's story will be told in 2016. Without you all, I wouldn't be able to sit here with a smile on my face excited to see what 2016 will bring.

It looks to be a great year. We have 16 weddings planned, we were recently named on of The Knot's best of 2016, Jenn plans to move in with me and become apart of Ryan DeVoll Photography, and I'm starting to get more and more involved with music again. I hope this new year I can travel more, photograph more and spend more quiet moments watching sunsets like this one.

So here's to 2016 and what wonders it may bring...

With love,
Ryan
