Finally! We are back at it! Guys - it’s been one hell of a year and if any couples can relate, it’s those who like Jenn and myself, had to reschedule their wedding day thanks to last year’s global pandemic. Allie & Mark are one of those couples who through all the uphill battles that 2020 handed them, persevered and let nothing stop them from creating the most magical day. And boy, they didn’t fall short.

We had an absolute blast on their day. It might’ve been spring but it sure felt like summer with 90-degree weather, Thankfully we were at The Wyndham Newport Hotel in Newport, RI, and it sits almost directly on the water! Their wedding party, family, and friends truly were beyond excited to finally get together after a year of being cooped up in the house! Everyone was on the dance floor all night long! We have so many great images to show you from their big day but for now, here’s a sneak peek to hold you over!

Hi guys!

So first off - I want to thank each of you for expressing interest in our mentoring sessions. I’ve been planning our mentoring sessions for over 3 years. Ever since I was the Rising Tide Leader in Rhode Island, I fell in love with teaching others the ins and outs of photography & business. As a graduate of Hallmark Institute of Photography back in 2012, I have the unique experience of being “professionally trained” at a high-end photography business school. However, most of what I’ve learned and what I teach I’ve learned in the past 10 years as a wedding & portrait photographer here in Rhode Island.

Who are our mentoring sessions for?

Our mentoring sessions are geared towards anyone with a camera wanting to learn more about photography, or the ins and outs of their business. Whether it’s your first time with a professional camera, or you want to learn how to shoot more couples and weddings, or maybe you’re trying to come up with a business plan and running into some hurdles. Maybe you just want to get more organized and need help with doing so. Or maybe you just need some help with editing and post-processing. What I’m trying to say is that our mentoring sessions are geared towards ANYONE. Beginner or a seasoned pro. We’ll sit down with you and make sure we cover whatever topic(s) you need help with!

What are the packages?

Coffee Time

$250

Grab a cup of coffee, or your favorite glass of wine, and let’s chat! This package is intended to be an open-ended Q&A with us! Don’t know what to ask? We’ll send you a questionnaire prior to our session to get your brain thinking (and for us to get to know a little bit more about you). This package is perfect for anyone just starting out who needs just a little help in their business, or a seasoned pro who is trying to figure out how to go full time! We’ll spend some time with you over FaceTime/Zoom and really work with you to make sure you succeed.

• A 1.5 hour FaceTime/Zoom or In-person meeting with Ryan
• Open-ended Q&A - You can literally ask anything (pricing questions, posing, gear talk, ideal settings, how we went full time, contracts, client management, software for your business, lighting, and so much more!)
• Access to the RDP mentoring Facebook group where you can meet, and engage with other photographers as well as help grow your business year around

The Styled Shoot (w/ coffee)

Need more of a hands-on approach with posing, working with a shoot, and editing? Our Styled Shoot session is geared for photographers who are looking to break into the realm of photography. We’ll plan a shoot with a REAL couple, family, or portrait on a date that works best for you. You’ll have an hour and a half to document the session with me. We’ll walk through posing, styling, locations, and so much more. After the shoot, we’ll grab a cup of coffee and go over the session together. We’ll work on your editing and post-processing. From planning to delivery.

• An hour styled shoot with Ryan
• Your choice of session (either a couple, family, or something different)
• One on one help with positing, prompting, and shooting
• Photos to be used in your own portfolio & marketing
• An 1.5 mentoring session after the shoot to go through culling, editing, and delivery, as well as an open-ended Q&A
• Access to the RDP mentoring Facebook group where you can meet, and engage with other photographers as well as help grow your business year around

The Wedding Workshop

I’ve always dreamed of hosting a 2-3 day workshop event, somewhere in the mountains, where we can help photographers & videographers transform their business and leave feeling ready to conquer the world. The first day focused on the BUSINESS of weddings and how to really separate yourself from the competition and make weddings your full-time gig. The second day focused on shooting a FULL DAY Mock Wedding alongside myself and other industry giants.

• 2-3 day wedding workshop to transform your photography/videography
• a full mock wedding to shoot, with help and direction from industry professionals
• A one on one review of your work by a panel of industry professionals
• Access to the RDP mentoring Facebook group where you can meet, and engage with other photographers as well as help grow your business year around

So for those of you who don’t know, there’s this fun new app called Clubhouse. Its like live chat rooms, but just audio. So think of it as dropping into a live podcast and listening. The best part is you could also raise your hand and contribute to the discussion if you’re up for it!

So far, I’ve met a bunch of other photographers and videographers in the app. I’ve met so many incredible people and it just so happened that on Monday I hopped into a call and stayed up until 2am talking to some local folks. 3 days later, we planned to meet up and they showed me this INCREDIBLE location that was just 15 min away from our new home. I was blown away that I’ve been photographing in Rhode Island for so damn long and I NEVER heard of this spot.

Let’s just say it’s now my favorite and I cannot wait to take a bride & groom here this summer.

This year has been an absolute whirlwind. With smaller weddings, and sometimes last-minute bookings, it tends to be hard to get to know our couple as much as we’d like too. However, during Cynthia & Carlos’s big day, it felt like we knew them for years. From their first look that brought us (and Carlos) to tears, to their first dance where afterward they went out of their way and made sure Jenn and I had a glass of champagne and cake to celebrate our own wedding day, we felt like we were apart of their closest friends and family who joined them this year to be “officially” married. I cannot believe how sweet these two were the entire day, making sure we felt 100% safe and also just going out of their way to not only celebrate them but to also celebrate Jenn and I.

Carlos, Cynthia, we cannot thank you enough for allowing us to capture your big day! We hope you and your family enjoy this little sneak peek for now :)

Tory and I have been long time friends going back all the way to when I used to work at Apple. When Tory contacted me to document her and Jay’s big day, I was ecstatic and beyond honored she choose me out of all the creative people she works with. After the COVID-19 hurdle changed their plans multiple times, I think we were all excited that the day finally arrived earlier this month. Everything went PERFECTLY and these two tied the knot on a beautiful summer day. Although everyone couldn’t make it, they ended the night with a beautiful video montage of the guests that couldn’t be there wishing them the best day ever. It was so powerful. Love can conquer all.

Every year, we discount our packages & prices in the fall and winter. Why? Because like most event industry folks living in New England, our business significantly declines in the winter and we’re ok with that! We usually document over 20 couples each summer and enjoy our little “winter break” However, we also absolutely love winter weddings and engagement sessions. And don’t even get us started about how much we enjoy fall. Hence why we started to do discounts back 10 years ago. We want to document more in the fall & winter! We absolutely LOVE when clients refer us to their siblings. That’s why we were so excited to document Katie & Tyler this year after meeting them last year at Katies sister’s wedding (Featured here). We best part about their whole day was the fact that we knew everyone there. Katie & Jackie’s mom, dad, singlings, everyone knew us and it was so great catching up with them! Despite multiple hurdles thanks to coronavirus, Katie & Tyler still knew they wanted to tie the knot this year. If that meant a smaller wedding this year, and a larger one next, it was totally fine! We are so thankful to them, and their families for hiring us once again to capture the big celebration. We can’t wait to catch up with them again next year when we do it all over again! COVID-19 has stopped a lot of couples plans to get married this year, but that didn’t stop Darlene & Martin from celebrating and making it “official” this year. Although their bigger reception will be next year, they still wanted to tie the knot this year and honestly, it was absolutely perfect. I personally love City Hall weddings because Providence has one of the prettiest spaces I’ve ever seen, with the best lighting too! Although only a few friends and family joined Martin & Darlene at the city hall, they were able to celebrate with a dozen or so more at their mom & dad’s beautiful home for their reception. An evening filled with chickens, ducks and their ADORABLE corgi, Ruggles we ended up having a blast. An oh, did I mention that Pranzi provided the rentals and catered the event with their amazing Paella (which I didn’t even know they offered, 10/10 would recommend). We’re so honored to have documented this special moment for these two and cannot wait for next year, but for now…
