Maternity Session | RI Portrait Photographer

I've known Dennys & Yassara for almost 10 years now. I can't even believe it's been that long. I met them way back when I was in middle school and was friends with Yassara's sister - Isabelle. Isabelle invited me to her church one night and that's how I came to know Jesus. It's a bigger story than that but, this family has been like a second to my own. They've taught me to be stronger, they've helped me become more humble and make better choices. Dennys specifically has always felt like a "spiritual dad" in a way. He used to lead the youth at the church we all started out at. I look up to him and Yassara as a couple. Their love is pure, strong, and everlasting. I was there at their wedding, I photographed them for an anniversary session in the fall a few years back and now they're on their next chapter in life and I am honored to be photographing them yet again. It's clients like this that make me happy to be a photographer. They won't go to anyone else, they don't feel comfortable with anyone else and they trust me 100% with capturing their story.

I love these images. I've never done a Maternity session before but I absolutely love the way this came out.

Congratulations Dennys & Yassara. I can't wait to meet baby Ethan!

Class of 2015 In Review

High school seniors have always been a huge part of Ryan DeVoll Photography. They were one of the biggest parts of my studio when I first came back from school, photographing anywhere from 30-50 of them a year. Now, I get to photograph a few selective seniors who are more like friends of mine vs. clients. The whole "why" behind what I do stemmed from me getting my photograph taken in school. It was cookie cutter, everyone had the same photo, the same lighting and there was no personality in any of those photos. Your senior photo should be different from everybody else's. It should stand out, reflect you and showcase who you are.

These three just graduated this past weekend, so let's give it up for them! Congratulations! You did it! Now, your onto adulthood. Enjoy your summer and stay in touch!

With love,
Ryan

Parson's Reserve Lifestyle Session | MA Lifestyle Photographer

There are a lot of weeks where I tend to only pick up my camera when I need too. As if it's the outfit you put on for work. However, I remember one of my instructors at Hallmark telling me to keep shooting and never stop. Sure during the week I'm a busy bee. I have weddings to edit, clients to meet, and emails to respond to but that shouldn't stop me from keeping my creative juices flowing.

This weekend, I decided to do just that — keep my creative juices flowing. My friends and I set out to find Parson's Reserve in North Dartmouth, MA. It's a beautiful daffodil field in the middle of the woods. At first, we just wanted to go to see the place and experience it and all of its beauty. But recently I've been trying to take my camera everywhere I go. And since I had my camera, it was photo shoot time for me and my friends.

So we set off to Parson's Reserve and made some awesome images.

I also introduced them to Geocaching. If you have no idea what this is, read about it here. It's SO much fun and we found a few right in Parson's Reserve! I'm not addicted to it and even spent $10 to have the full version of the app for three months but it's a blast if you love exploring and finding new places.

Special thanks to Chelsea for modeling! You have to love having such adventurous and beautiful friends!

Portrait Session | RI Portrait Photographer

Hi everyone!

Wow, it's been quite some time since I've written a blog post. It feels good to sit here on a rainy morning and type this out to you. This post is going to serve for an update for most of you. If this is your first time visiting the blog then, hello! Welcome to my little space on the inter-webs :)

Many of you know that over 3 months ago I moved away from my home town (Fall River, MA) and moved to a beautiful new loft space in Pawtucket, RI. This move was quite a jump for me. Moving away from a city I know so well, with all of my friends, family and favorite restaurants to a city where I know nobody, and have no idea where any god restaurants are is a huge leap for me. However, I've had my buddy Brian to rely on to keep me sane and to keep me company :)

Brian and I have known each other for almost 3 years now. We met in Hallmark Institute of Photography and were even suppose to be roommates. Since the roommate thing didn't pan out while we were at Hallmark, we decided to move in together in Pawtucket. Many of you know Brian as my assistant, my right-hand-man, my second shooter but he's also a great photographer who runs his own business as well :)

With this beautiful new space we have we can't deny that it's perfect for photographing. During the first week when we moved in I photographed Brian for some new headshots. Last night, we finally got to an idea that I've had for a few weeks now.

Enjoy Brian's face :)
