2017 in Photographs

2017 brought us new adventures, happiness, and so much more. It was one crazy year and I can't believe it's already over. This year we delivered over 15,000 images to more than 25 clients. Thank you to all the clients who allowed us to document their story this year. I do this all for you. Your stories, love and support are what keeps me going. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Here is a look back on 2017...

I got to photograph two of my best friends in the back of a pickup truck. Which I stole from my uncle and drove over 40 miles just to do so.

We returned to our roots and photographed your family. Even if that meant going out a day after a blizzard rolled in.

Molly & Brian | Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, RI Wedding

Every season I tend to walk away from at least one wedding thinking "dang, that was one heck of a night. I had a blast!". As a wedding photographer I attended a lot of weddings. Probably more than anyone will in their whole lifetime will and every single wedding tends to be a boatload of fun. However there is always one each year that rocks my socks off. This year, it happened to be Molly & Brian's wedding.

I met Molly & Brian over a year ago and remembered talking to them and instantly clicking. We hit it off quickly, got to know one another over lunch, Skype calls and more over the past year and finally - Their day had arrived. It felt like just the other day that we were photographing at Colt State Park in the dead of winter for their engagement photos (which turned out awesome by the way! Check them out here). Finally the day arrived, the clouds cleared and their beautiful fall wedding was here. Set up at Mount Hope Farm, they couldn't have asked for a better venue and backdrop. The ceremony location was absolutely draw dropping, the tent right next to the water was so New England and paired well with Molly's childhood memories of sailing with her dad on their boat in Rhode Island. The band, Kahootz absolutely KILLED IT with the entertainment for the night. Nobody left the dance floor. I even got down and dirty at one point (photos below to prove it). I also may have snuck in singing a song or two. Speaking of - Molly is a voice instructor in NYC, which made this wedding 10x better. From vocals from her bff's during the ceremony, to Molly singing a song to Brian and bringing everything to tears, to the surprise speech her sister gave in song, this wedding was clearly a musical in real life, and I loved every second of it.

Enough about these two. Check out their sneak peek below.

Crissey Farms Wedding | MA Wedding Photographer

These photographs are claimed to be some of my best this year. Especially the ones taken at Naumkeag. Enjoy!

Natalie & Kenrick reached out to me when they found my site from my school's website. Don't ask me how they ended up choosing me out of a school full of photographers but boy, am I glad they did. Their wedding hosted at the beautiful Crissey Farms, in western MA went off perfectly! Despite the rain, Natalie and Kenrick was still super pumped and excited to enjoy the day where their two families would become one. Luckily, the rain held off for their amazing first look at Numkeag, an estate located right down the road where we captured some amazingly beautiful photos. I'm not going to lie - they're some of my favorites from this year.

Their reception was something unique and new for me. It didn't have dancing but rather, a traditional Chinese tea ceremony followed by dinner. The photos speak for themselves but let me tell you - it was an awesome experience.

Thanks Natalie & Kenrick - for not only allowing me to capture your story together but for being amazing clients that are now turned friends throughout the whole experience.

Rebecca & Ryan | Boston, MA Wedding Photographer

Back in May I got to second shoot for the amazing Sarah Jayne. Sarah and I know each other through a photography community located in the Boston Area that serves one mission: Community over competition. It's a place we all go to when we have a question, need an extra hand on the wedding day or need a second shooter when our normal team is busy. I love to help out other local photographers. In this industry, things are constantly changing which means, I have to constantly keep learning. Working with other photographers has taught me so much over these past few years. I've promised myself that even if I'm busy (which I totally am), whenever somebody needs a helping hand, I'll always be there for them!

Here's a snippet of the wedding Sarah and I photographed together.

Meet: Rebecca & Ryan
Cheers!

Topstone Golf Course Wedding | CT Wedding Photographer

I met Victoria way back when I was still attending Hallmark Institute of Photography. At that time, she was a hair stylist at a local salon and we had worked together on a few projects for her portfolio and for mine. Fast forward 4 years later, I received an email from her and I couldn't have been more excited because she not only was a client of mine in the past, but a friend.

Steven & her are a bunch of fun. I couldn't tell you how many times I cracked up laughing doing their formals. There's two are goofballs and I love it.  Their wedding came out beautiful considering that Topstone hasn't done a wedding in over 10 years. You would have never noticed. All the floral arrangements and decor Victoria and her family came together and made. So yes, it's totally possible. The dress and vail was even handmade by her grandmother. These ladies have some skill let me tell you.

Congratulations you two. Love you both!

Thanks again to Topstone Golf Course in Ct for making this a beautiful day for Steven & Victoria!

Independence Harbor Wedding | MA Wedding Photographer

Lidina & Hamilton

Lidina and Hamilton's story is one that's sure to make your heart melt. Hamilton was a US Army solider, currently stationed in Iraq. After their engagement, Hamilton was deployed back to Iraq quickly and didn't have a chance to plan anything with his sweet new bride. However, that didn't stop Lidina. She quickly jumped on board, and planned everything out while keeping in touch with Hamilton each week. A story of true love. "Distance isn't a problem" Lidina told me. I then told her that distance makes the heart grow fonder anyway and that anytime she'll get to spend with Hamilton will be cherished forever. I was so excited to be apart of this couples story. Who wouldn't want to be apart of a "Dear John" love story? When Lidina found a photographer for their big day, Hamilton was stoked. He knew the importance of photographs of your life being a solider. I knew instantly that this was a couple I couldn't wait to get to know more.

Their wedding was beautiful. From the beautiful ceremony at St. Mary's Cathedral to photos in Newport, RI and then finally ending at their amazing reception at Independence Harbor (which was also the venue my aunt got married at when I was super young! I still remember it though!) I'm not sure who could ever top how much fun we had and how beautiful these photos are.

Congratulations you two!

A big special thank you to all those vendors and people who made this beautiful day come true! Personally, I have to thank my second shooter and best friend, Casey Wright for helping me out on this one. I love the way her and I captured this day in a documentary style feeling.

Ledgemont Country Club, Seekonk MA Wedding: Khrystal & Roger

This past weekend I got to photograph a wedding that I've pretty much been excited about all year. I met Khrystal & Roger almost a year and a half ago when they booked me. These two were perfect: they were fun to be around, always happy, always joking, and super caring. Their lovebird session photos were some of my favorite from this past autumn and I can't believe that just this past Saturday they officially tied the knot. The day couldn't have come together more beautifully. Special shoutout to Khrystal & Roger, their families and their friends who made the night extremely enjoyable for me! I had a blast and couldn't thank you all enough for inviting me there!

With love,
Ryan

Lifestyle Session | RI Lifestyle Photographer

Almost a week after I moved into my new place in RI, I received my first inquiry from someone in Pawtucket. Technically Tanna lives in East Providence and works in Pawtucket, but I'll still count it as a win :). She contacted me with a request I've never thought about before...Anniversary sessions.

Tanna and her husband Louie, got married a year ago on April 12, 2014. They decided that they wanted to do an anniversary session every year to celebrate their love together. I was honestly super excited when she first called me and immediately loved all of her ideas. I couldn't wait to get to know her more.

After meeting her in person, we instantly clicked! I had a blast with these two. They were so much fun and their session came out absolutely incredible. Below are some highlights from our time together. To view their full session, click here.

Cheers to the years ahead!

With love,
Ryan
